KirstenNew Dr. Kirsten Evans, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Evans has lived in Lawrence since 1989. She completed medical school and residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center and has practiced pediatrics in Topeka, Kansas City, and Virginia. As a pediatrician who has worked in private practice, a faculty member at The University of Kansas Medical Center, and a pediatric hospitalist at Stormont Vail Health Care, she has treated children of all ages with a wide variety of illnesses. She also serves as adjunct faculty for Saint Louis University and is a board member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, tiny-k, and Safe Kids. She is also a member of the International Society for Travel Medicine.

Dr. Evans has been fascinated by medicine since childhood. She enjoys treating children and watching them grow and develop, and she considers it a privilege to share in their care. Additionally, she has a doctorate degree from Princeton University in classical archaeology and continues active research in archaeology and the history of medicine. She and her husband have two children and one grandchild, with whom she spends the majority of her time away from work.

KristenNew Dr. Kristen Jacobs, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Jacobs joined the Lawrence Pediatrics team in April 2015. After deciding she wanted to become a doctor while still in kindergarten, she completed medical school and residency at the University of California, San Francisco and has practiced pediatrics in Kansas City, Missouri. Her medical interests include asthma, obesity, and the effects of sleep on overall health.

Dr. Jacobs also has a degree in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania. She has two "furkids", a dog named Skye and a cat named Cleo, who were both rescues from the animal shelter. In her free time, Dr. Jacobs enjoys gardening, reading, traveling, and spending time with her nephew.

MalaniNew Dr. Malani Kuiper, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Kuiper is a board-certified pediatrician who has worked part-time at Lawrence Pediatrics since November 2016. Dr. Kuiper has a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Kansas and attended medical school at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. She completed her pediatric residency training at the University of Iowa. After residency, she served as Chief Resident at the University of Iowa. She has worked in private pediatrics practices in Salina and Leawood prior to moving to Lawrence. She enjoys treating a variety of childhood illnesses, interacting with healthy children at their well-child checks, and getting to know their families. Dr. Kuiper is married with two busy school-aged children.

RendiNew Rendi Kersting, A.P.R.N.

Rendi joined the Lawrence Pediatrics team in November 2013. She received her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Baker University and graduated in 1981 from Wichita State University with her Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. Rendi has worked for over 25 years as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, working with children from birth to age 21. While working in pediatrics, she has specialized in adolescent gynecology. She worked for 4 years as an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner, and she managed a clinic specializing in metabolic syndrome and nutrition for the last 6 years. Rendi is honored to be able to work with children and families and over the years, she has been rewarded with some very special relationships.

Rendi is a member of the American College of Nurse Practitioners, National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates, The American Diabetes Association, The American Nurses Association, and The Kansas Nurses Association.

Rendi has been married for over 30 years and has three children and two grandchildren, so when she isn’t working, she is spending time with her family.

AshleyNew Ashley, RN

Ashley has been a nurse since 2009, after obtaining a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Baker University. Her past experience includes hospital work on the Pediatric Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and most recently in public health at the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department. She lives in Lawrence with her husband and in her free time, enjoys running, kickboxing, cooking, and reading. 

CathyNew Cathy, RN

Cathy has worked in the nursing field since 2006, most recently at Stormont-Vail Pediatric Care. She is married with one son and two dogs. She enjoys playing softball, kickboxing, and spending time with friends and family.

ElizabethNew1 Elizabeth, RN

Elizabeth has worked in the medical field since 2008. She recently relocated from Tennessee, where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing in 2012. She is married and in her spare time, enjoys cooking, running, spending time with her dogs, and exploring all the things Lawrence has to offer.

JenNew Jennifer, LPN

Jennifer has worked in the nursing field since 1997, focusing on pediatrics for the last thirteen years. She lives in Topeka with her husband and son. She enjoys spending time with family and friends outdoors.

LaurenNew Lauren, RN

Lauren graduated with her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Washburn University in 2016. She lives in Lawrence with her fiancé and will be getting married this December. In her free time, she enjoys Pure Barre, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.

AlainaNew Alaina

Alaina has worked in the medical field since 2009 with positions in reception and office management and joined Lawrence Pediatrics in 2013. In her spare time, she enjoys playing music in a bluegrass band.

CandaceNew Candace

Candace has worked in the medical field since 2012 with positions in reception and joined Lawrence Pediatrics in 2016. She has two sons, Garret and Gage, and enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time outdoors with her family.

 KateNew1 Kate

Kate joined Lawrence Pediatrics in 2012 and works in office management, billing, and web development. She received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology in 2014 and is currently in graduate school. She has been a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician since 2011 and volunteers with Safe Kids Douglas County. She has one daughter and enjoys traveling, music, and reading.

 ScottNew Scott

Scott rejoined the Lawrence Pediatrics team in 2016 after a year of study in Germany. He recently received a Bachelor's degree in German Studies and Environmental Studies from the University of Kansas. He plans to undertake a teaching position abroad as well as attend graduate school. In his free time, he enjoys reading, traveling the world, and playing tennis.
